Les Sentinelles de Saint-Louis

Installation, Les Sentinelles de St-Louis

Installation at Saint-Louis Les Aygalades train station in  Marseille, as part of the Ruedi Baur Masterclass, Civic City project carried out by Marseille Provence 2013 – European Capital of Culture

Smelly Dog Films Production

As guards of the temple of Saint-Louis, women went out from their tower in order to look after the travellers.
Going to the sea or leaving their mother, the travellers let themselves be rocked by the sound of the fairytales of the women illuminated by the « lighthouse station ».
The project is to give life to the neglected Saint-Louis train station building by placing lighted boxes in the windows. As transplants in the facades, the aim of these lighted boxes is to remind us old times, the memory of the residents and their elders.
These boxes let us see old pictures from the women of the northern district of Marseille – an area of immigration and storied history. The feminine presence is used to reassure the residents.
